Q1: Why most of the children are studying only in Christian Schools?
A: The only reason is that the Christian
schools in India are generally known to better schools. It has nothing
to do with the religion. We can educate our children in any good
schools. However, in doing so, the standard of education will be
the primary criterion, and of lesser importance will be factors
such as proximity to the neighborhood or the ease of commute, specific
needs of a child. We invite our friends and sponsors to suggest
better choices.
Q2: Why most of the children are studying in Seventh-day Adventists
Schools at all the locations?
A: The reasons why they
are studying in Seventh-day Adventists Schools are because of the
following: 1. Sam Vonumu studied in SDA institutions within and
outside India, and had a positive and gratifying experience. 2.
Sam also has several friends and well wishers who are associated
with the SDA institutions, They are teachers, principals or school
administrators, who can closely monitor the children's progress
and time to time give valuable feedback. 3. Most of the schools
charge admission fees and take donations at the time of a new admission.
SDA schools do take donations like other schools in India. But for
us, they have waived the donations, school fund fee etc. because
Sam is an ex student of SDA institutions and we are a Not-for-Profit
organization.
Q3: Can we help poor children in other states?
A: Yes, you can. It does not matter in which state or in which country.
Because all children are precious and we want to help poor and needy
ones everywhere regardless of their religion, nationality or gender.
However, we would need volunteers in other states to help us. They
should be willing to spend the required time and assume full responsibility
for the children being sponsored in their states. If you know someone
who is trustworthy and can help us, please let us know.
Q4: How can I become a Sponsor?
A: All you need to do is be 1. Willing to
help. 2. Able to make a long-term commitment. 3. Financially capable
of paying for the sponsored child's school expenses every year.
Q5: Do I need to be committed for 12 Years to be a sponsor?
A: Only if possible, you must make a commitment to help the sponsored child
for 12 to 13 years. Our aim is to help each child from lower kindergarten
through the 10th Class (or 11th) to complete highschool (or higher
secondary) -- a total of 12 (or 13) years.
Q6: What happens if I discontinue after supporting the child
for some years due to financial problems?
A: Vonumu International will continue with your child
wherever you leave off.
Q7: Can we communicate with the child whom we are helping?
A: Yes, you can communicate with them directly.
You will be provided with the details, including the address.
Q8: How much does it cost per child and what it includes?
A: In the past, for some children Vonumu International paid only the tuition fees,
and for some others both tuition fee as well as the cots of books
and other related expenses. Additionally, we paid for hostel for
some of the children. However, we would like to adopt a more uniform
and equitable approach and from now on the entire new enrollment
will receive the following.
1. Full year tuition fee.
2. Three pairs of school uniforms
3. A pair of Shoes and six pairs of socks
4. School tie and belt.
5. Text books and notebooks.
6. Supplies -- pens, pencils, etc., and depending upon the grade and curriculum,
other items such as calculator, dissection kit. **. All of the above
typically cost between USD 100 - 140 per Year for the lower grades
and little bit more for the higer grades.
